The first garden kits are ready! The “early greens” kit fills a corner of your garden with cold-hardy greens and helps scratch the itch to plant something, when it’s way too soon for most veggies. Limited number available; to reserve yours, fill out the brief form below the photo.
This $25 kit includes 25-28 starts, which consist of a balance of cooking greens (kale, chard, collards, and stir-fry heads like boc choi & tatsoi), fresh-eating salad type greens (lettuces, spicy mix, mild spring mix) and a few herbs (dill and cilantro) for snipping right into salads.
Plant the peat pots directly into your garden soil, no need to peel off the pot. Harvest individual leaves as they get large enough, for a continued harvest.
These greens are all very cold-tolerant, but will appreciate some night-time protection from frost. A cold frame, cloches, or hooped bed are great, but you can also just drape a sheet over them on frosty nights. Don’t forget to vent during the day!
